One Planet, One Chance – UNDP Photo Essay

This video/photo essay is definitely for older students. It was commissioned by the UN Development program and is based on their 2008 It uses photos from Magnum photographers, so they are quite dramatic, along with simple graphs and some texts to convey the tension between developed and lesser developed countries. It describes who is creating more of the climate changing emissions and who is being most impact.

I really like that it ends with what we need to do to make changes. Not everyone agrees that this is the way, but I think it’s important for more and more people to be talking and thinking about it. It also has an emphasis on what the next generation is going to be dealing with. That could catch an 8th grader’s attention.
